J1 - Adolescent Health Check
Between the ages of 12 and 14, adolescents are entitled to a preventive medical checkup. The J1 includes a detailed physical examination as well as a discussion about special features in the behavior and development of adolescents. In addition to a physical examination, the J1 focuses primarily on mental and academic development and possible abnormalities. It is also about the behavior of the adolescent with regard to smoking, alcohol consumption and media use. If necessary, the doctor gives advice and tips for a healthy lifestyle. Vaccination protection is checked.
Check-up for 18- to 34-year-olds
In this age range, you are entitled to a one-time health check-up. Health risks are recorded and, if necessary, a blood test is performed. The vaccination status is checked. If health problems arise, you will receive a prevention recommendation for your health insurance.
Check-up from 35 years
Check-up 35 is performed at three-year intervals and includes blood and urine analysis in addition to a physical examination. There are shorter intervals for patients participating in the GP contracts.
Abdominal aortic screening for men over 65 (one-time)
Sonography of the abdominal aorta is used to check whether there is any dilatation of the abdominal aorta. If this is the case, internal bleeding may occur, which can go unnoticed and lead to death.
Early skin cancer detection from 35 years of age
From the age of 35, people with statutory health insurance are entitled to an "early detection examination for skin cancer". The aim is to detect suspicious skin changes at an early stage. This examination can be repeated every two years. Many health insurance companies also offer the examination more often and also for younger patients.
Colorectal cancer screening from 50 years of age
From the age of 50, all people with statutory health insurance are entitled to consultations and examinations for the early detection of colorectal cancer. In addition to a consultation with the doctor, this includes a test for invisible blood in the stool and a colonoscopy.
